Production Planner and Logistics Controller

The Role & Key Responsibilities

Primary Diets, part of the AB Agri family, is a dedicated manufacturer and supplier of specialist young animal pre-starter and starter feeds.  We’re looking for Production Planner & Logistics Controller to join our team in Melmerby,UK to be responsible for the daily Production Plan and to control the day to day transport requirements for customer deliveries. 

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Producing printout of production plan for Operations.
  • Checking orders against ‘free stock’ to establish stock levels available.
  • Keying in products from load notes onto production plan and deciding on programme to build for each shift, determined by product range/volume/additives included and branding to ensure mill runs efficiently as possible.
  • Produce check list of orders by ‘required by’ date checking against AX system.
  • Keep records of weekly haulage sheets of customer deliveries according to number of vehicles available and restriction on weight of loads.
  • Collating load shipment notes for deliveries ensuring any additional instructions are clearly identified i.e. customer requesting first delivery.
  • Working closely with other AB Agri business units to coordinate transport and customer deliveries. 
 
What we're looking for: 
 
  • Experience of working in a planning / logistics role in a production environment.
  • High attention to detail, able to accurately input data.
  • Experience of using Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with planning logistics across UK & European markets would be desirable
  • Previous use of AX systems is desirable but not essential as training provided.
  • Knowledge of cross contamination risk management and UFAS compliance desirable.
