As the Head of Sales – Ruminants you will lead the sales and commercial teams; developing comprehensive strategic plans to ensure the achievement of stretching annual sales budgets.  As a senior member of the Feed Ingredients business, you will have personal accountability for fostering cross functional collaboration to contribute to the achievement of the AB Connect vision, mission and strategy, and to deliver annual business plans.

Your responsibilities will include: 

  • Lead, motivate and develop the sales team in order to maximise performance, develop skills, achieve new sales and retention targets and promote succession.
  • Developing successful commercial plans in liaison with key stakeholders; agreeing campaign strategies, optimum routes to market and a pricing framework for each product to deliver agreed sales budgets.
  • Ensure that contracts and trading controls are adhered in line with agreed sales practices and pricing frameworks.
  • Establish governance in collaboration with the Heads of Category to manage the interface with Supply Chain and functional departments, and lead reviews of service, product, and performance annually.
  • Manage the smooth integration of new business/products into the Feed Ingredients sales portfolio.
 
What we’re looking for:
 
  • Successful proven experience in a senior commercial position with exposure to strategic sales account management.
  • A deep knowledge of the agricultural industry with an understanding of ruminant key market drivers and supply chains to the customer.
  • Exposure to B2C and B2B business propositions.
  • Solid experience of business planning, change management and driving improvements in performance.
  • Deep understanding of pricing and the variables that influence it, including raw material markets and matrix values.
  • Credible leadership skills with the ability to organise, motivate and develop the sales teams.
  • Commercial and financial acumen with the ability to prioritise business focus and resources.
  • Commitment to support the embedding of the AB Connect culture by acting as a role model to others.
