The Role & Key Responsibilities

Job Title: Management Accountant/Financial Accountant/Finance Business Partner

Location: Peterborough/Remote - Hybrid Working

Are you a qualified accountant looking for a role with autonomy and accountability where you can apply your finance skills to make a difference in a small team as part of a larger company? If so, we have an opportunity for you to join us in a newly created role!

Reporting directly to our Head of Finance (HoF) you will oversee the process for activities associated with month end and financial accounts which run over a 4-week period. This is a new role, and you will have responsibility for deputising for our HoF as well as acting as the bridge between HoF and our Account Assistants. While you won’t have direct reports you will be the first point of contact for queries and will support the team with their own development allowing our HoF to support, coach and mentor you.

You will join a small team of 3 supporting approximately 200 colleagues at our ABF IT Shared Service Centre who support our ABF business globally. You will have responsibility for:

  • Ensuring there are robust financial management processes within the SSC
  • Work and collaborate with Head of Finance and Senior Leadership Team and budget holders to produce annual budgets, quarterly forecasts including all balance sheets
  • Reporting period ends results and audit reporting
  • Producing capital requests for head office approval and full capital expenditure budgets/forecasts including cash flow
  • Financial monitoring of projects
  • Responsibility for VAT returns
  • Responsibility for EU shipping controls and submissions
  • Review and maintain the fixed asset register and chart of accounts
  • Full responsibility for the financial controls including Expenses, Purchase Ledger, Payroll, Sales Ledger, Supplier Management, Procurement and Project costing
  • Reviewer and Preparer of Balance Sheet Reconciliations
  • Approval of monthly payroll

To be successful we're looking for the following knowledge, skills and experience: 

  • Qualified accountant CIMA, ACCA or ACA
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously, prioritising and executing tasks at a high level of detail
  • Customer service focused with stakeholder management experience

Location

Hybrid, a mix of office and homeworking ideally at least 1 day a week in the office but there is flexibility on this. The office has recently been renovated and along with a modern work environment has great public transport links, free onsite parking, free drink facilities and a great team culture.
