The Role & Key Responsibilities

Job Title: Senior IT Project Manager

Location: Flexible UK, ideally once a week in Peterborough

This is a great opportunity to join a diverse, fast paced and collaborative shared services centre as an experienced IT Project Manager. Managing a broad portfolio of projects end to end and at a global scale, the projects will mostly sit in the infrastructure space and will range in size from £100k to over £1m. This will be a varied role providing exposure to BAU projects for our individual customers and also larger scale projects that have an impact on our entire group. 
 
We are looking for a leader and business partner who can engage, influence and manage senior stakeholders, clients and 3rd parties with the ability to deliver end to end solutions with a strategic approach. 
 
What you will be doing;
 
  • Leading projects from inception and vision creation through to acceptance and delivery to successful service and support
  • Establishing and maintaining governance arrangements for the delivery of projects, defining clear roles, responsibilities and accountabilities that align with organisational practice
  • Managing project financials including initial business case, estimates, budgets and forecasts across both opex and capex
  • Proactively managing a stakeholder environment up to executive level across multiple internal functions and locations
  • Creating and maintaining accurate project RAID logs and ensure that the relevant parties are involved in addressing each factor
  • Managing the integration of project outputs into business-as-usual, addressing the readiness of users, compatibility of work systems, etc
  • Establishing an approach for ensuring the realisation of benefits and the measurement of those benefits against the business case across all projects
  • Encouraging best practice at all times including the closing of a project and conducting lessons learnt sessions to encourage efficiencies in the future across the wider project and PMO teams
What will you bring;
 
  • Proven experience of delivering larger (£500k to £1m) IT infrastructure projects on time and to budget, 
  • Experience of multiple project delivery methodologies (waterfall, agile and hybrid)
  • Ability to take a holistic view of the business case, using this to guide delivery, execution and understanding of the broader context of decisions
  • Proven leadership and stakeholder management experience, with the ability to prioritise activities and influence internal and external stakeholders to achieve results
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Able to convey information to a varied audience in user-friendly language
  • Strong judgement with willingness to take responsibility for project decisions
