The Role & Key Responsibilities

Job Title: Commercial Finance Manager - FTC 6 mths

Location: Hybrid - Peterborough (ideally office based 2 days per week with some flexibility)

Are you a qualified accountant who likes to be involved in the detail with the ability to provide strategic guidance and build strong partnerships at a senior level? Are you comfortable with ambiguity and able to problem solve? This is a great opportunity to work with a successful start up business that is growing globally. Implementing new reporting, modelling and insights whilst working in a varied and challenging role. 

Ideally you will have a start up or SME background and if you were to have SAAS or tech experience this would be advantageous. Reporting to the Financial Director within AB Dairy and managing a team of 2, you will have ownership around the monthly reporting, modelling and strategy ensuring timelines are achieved and a path to profitability is defined, whilst also ensuring our systems are adequate to support both growth and control.

What you'll be doing: 
  • Report and analyse results, working with the Performance Director to ensure plans are on track, with the ability to make recommendations and advise where risks may arise
  • Partner with the General Manager in setting the future strategy, ensuring timelines are achieved with corrective actions put in place where appropriate. This includes a path to profitability, ensuring systems are adequate to support both growth and control and resource plans reflect strategy.
  • Develop and maintain financial controls, ensuring no repeat audit points arise
  • Report and analyse results with insights and recommendations, ensuring clear performance metrics are put in place with regard to current performance
  • Ensure all statutory reporting is completed in a timely and accurate manner
  • Manage the budget, forecast and 5 year plan cycles with the management team
  • Preparation of monthly and quarterly presentations
  • Production of monthly management accounts and group reporting
  • Commercial modelling to allow insight and drive business decisions
  • Management and set up of legal entities in new countries
  • Drive business process, reporting and system improvements

What you'll bring: 

  • Ability to drive change and improve ways of working whilst building strong partnerships across the business with the senior leadership team and other stakeholders
  • ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified with a strong knowledge of financial controls 
  • A high degree of business acumen with the ability to apply strategic judgement
  • Track record of using relevant information to influence business performance 
  • Strong financial modelling, reporting and analysis skills
  • Prior experience of management and financial accounting
