The Role & Key Responsibilities

Job Title: Finance Controller (Dairy Division)

Location: Peterborough - Hybrid (ideally 2 days per week in the office with some flexibility)

Shift details: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Are you a strong financial manager or controller with excellent business partnering skills and proven experience within governance and controls? Would you like to work for a global business experiencing rapid growth and investment? 

This is a great opportunity to manage a growing team within the Dairy division that offers a broad range of services to our dairy customers across animal feed production and development, renewable energy, consultancy services and technology solutions. In this role you will manage a team of two part qualified accountants and be a true senior partner across many divisions of AB Agri and Dairy including with the senior leadership team. Managing many different brands that form dairy to ensure they are aligned and working together in partnership across finance strategies and good practice. 
 
Whilst overseeing all aspects of financial reporting, controls, governance, budget and forecast cycles you will also be driving continuous improvement across dairy finance. You will be an integral part of managing many projects that span finance transformation, export compliance, governance and frameworks, supporting existing and future M&A activity and control & automation projects with much more opportunities to come. 

What you'll be doing: 

  • Accountable for the timely and accurate reporting of results to AB Agri senior leadership and ABF
  • Manage the month end close process across various AB Dairy business units
  • Ownership of the balance sheet and subsequent balance sheet reviews across various AB Dairy business units
  • Manage the statutory account preparation, statutory audits and statutory account filing process
  • Lead the full budgeting and forecasting process whilst providing appropriate challenge to the senior management teams
  • Drive a robust risk and controls environment and recommends the right strategies to ensure the organisation adheres to governance structures and applies best practice. 
  • Responsible for the overheads budgeting and forecast process, providing recommendations and insight to the senior management team
  • Identify risks and opportunities during the budgeting and forecasting process to support the business in achieving its strategic goals
  • Provide business partnering and strategic finance insight, to enable informed decision making and support profit delivery 
  • Responsible for customs and duty compliance, ensuring AEO status is retained in the UK
  • Manage cashflow activities of the GB&I business, including cashflow forecasts and collections 
  • Manage the foreign exchange exposures of GB&I, taking strategic oversight to ensure adequate currency cover is in place 
  • Management of VAT set up for new products and VAT reporting

What you'll bring: 

  • Qualified professional within ACCA/ACA or CIMA with proven post qualified experience
  • Previous practice and industry experience would be desirable in this role
  • Previous experience of managing or supervising people with the ability coach, mentor and get the best out of your team whilst also leading on process and best practice across a matrix environment
  • Strong accounting technical knowledge with excellent governance and controls experience 
  • Ability to partner across a wide ranging business across all levels, influencing and engaging whilst building strong business relationships
  • Comfortable with complexity and ambiguity, a creative problem solver with the ability to see both the big picture and manage the detail
  • Commercial mindset with the ability to advise and promote confidence and credibility across dairy finance whilst staying up to date with the latest finance trends and requirements
  • Strong track record of creating and delivering presentations to senior management
