IT Audit Assistant Manager

The Role & Key Responsibilities

We have an excellent opportunity for an IT Audit Specialist to join our business. The role is for an IT Audit Specialist within AB Mauri and AB Agri(50/50), reporting directly to the Mauri and Agri Global Head of Audits, with support and oversight from the ABF Group Head of IT Audit. The role will be based in Peterborough, with frequent travel abroad.

 ABF is a British multinational food processing and retailing company whose headquarters are in London. AB Mauri operates globally in both yeast and bakery ingredient production with 52 plants, operations in 32 countries and sales in over 100 countries, supporting and enabling the world's bakers, both small and large, across craft/artisan and industrial. It supplies technology-based products to farmers, feed and food manufacturers,processors and retailers.

Working in partnership with Group IT Audit, IS Directors and the Heads of Audit, the IT Audit Assistant Manager for AB Mauri and AB Agri will be responsible for contributing to shaping the assurance approach and delivering the IT audit programme.  This is a highly collaborative and entrepreneurial business, and this is an exciting opportunity to be part of a growing group audit function.

Key Responsibilities


  • Developing a network of strong working relationships across the AB Mauri and AB Agri businesses.
  • Working with the Heads of Audit, Head of IT Audit and AB Mauri/Agri colleagues to develop, prioritise and implement the annual audit plan for each business.
  • Completing IT audits in areas such as change management, infrastructure, network, and application access, computer operations, and emerging technologies (e.g. website,cloud audits). Tailoring the IT risk and assurance approach to the needs of different business units within AB Mauri and Agri.
  • Delivering periodic updates on IT risk and IT audit to the Heads of Audit, Head of IT Audit, AB Mauri and AB Agri leadership, IS Directors and the Group Director of Financial Control.
  • Work as part of a global audit team - strategic thinking, contributing to Group-wide audit initiatives, relationship building and communication.
  •  Partnering with business stakeholders and management teams, providing insight on the IT risks facing the business.
  • Providing IT assurance for critical projects and programmes, to share expertise on risk and controls (including pre and post implementation, data migration, access and change controls).
  • Collaborating with colleagues in other parts of Internal Audit, Compliance, Risk Management and Legal to improve the quality of controls and risk management.
Skills & Experience

Essential skills & experience:

  • Experience in specialising in a role covering technology risk and IT audit. Comprehensive understanding of IT and IT Security related risks and controls.
  • Experience of operating and engaging with business and IT management and building strong relationships.
  • Clear understanding of the three lines of defence and how IT audit assurance can add value to business.
  • The ability to communicate IT risks and threats to business stakeholders.
  • Expertise in IT risk management, IT controls and information security.

Desirable skills & experience:

  • Experience in a role covering technology risk and IT audit, including experience working in the Big 4.
  • Professional certifications in IT / IT risk such as CISA.
  • A professional/business qualification such as ACA.
  • Experience in working within the consumer markets, retail sector or equivalent is preferred.
