The Role & Key Responsibilities

Job Title: Raw Material Planner
Location: Melmerby, North Yorkshire, UK
Shift: Monday to Friday – 4 days onsite, 1 day working from home.

We are currently seeking a raw material planner to join our supply chain team at AB Neo, based in Melmerby. This is a fantastic chance to develop your career in a dynamic environment where you’ll play a key role in ensuring the efficient management of raw material ordering.

What You'll Be Doing:
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Calculating material demand to meet daily production needs while maintaining minimum stock levels.
  • Ensuring accurate planning parameters in our IT/MRP systems and regularly reviewing them to optimize material inventory on site.
  • Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to forecast, plan, and ensure timely delivery of materials, preventing any disruptions to production.
  • Raising and issuing purchase orders to suppliers, including managing contract and non-contract orders.
  • Overseeing imports and exports registration requirements, including preferential origin analysis and Long-Term Supplier Declarations (LTSD).
  • Monitoring daily stock levels and addressing any variances or potential shortages, updating the IT system as necessary.
  • Supporting contract administration tasks as directed by the Procurement & Planning Manager.
  • Assisting with material position and risk reporting based on sales forecasts and procurement strategies.
  • Building strong relationships with stakeholders and engaging them in category management processes to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Addressing any quality issues with materials in collaboration with the Quality and Technical team.
  • Working with the Central Finance teams to resolve supplier invoice queries and proactively minimizing future queries.

What You'll Bring:

  • A-Levels or vocational qualifications, or a willingness to learn and develop within the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word); experience with ERP software is a plus.
  • Previous experience in materials planning, ideally within a manufacturing environment (Desirable).
  • A team player with a positive, friendly, and enthusiastic attitude.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build effective relationships with suppliers and stakeholders.

Additional Information:

  • The site is in a rural area with limited public transport, so a Full Valid Driving Licence is essential.
  • Please note that this role is based in a working mill/factory spanning three separate floors, involving numerous stairs and elevated areas.
