The Role & Key Responsibilities

Job Title: HGV Class 1 Driver

Location: Langwathby, Cumbria, UK

Contract – Shift: Permanent – Monday – Saturday on a 3-week rotating day shift – Average 48 hours per week.

Week 1 – Wednesday – Saturday

Week 2 – Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday

Week 3 Monday – Thursday

Followed by 5 days off.

Looking for a role that offers the best of both worlds! You’ll spend part of your time on the road and part of your time supporting our operations team in the office.

Some of the office duties will include some of the below:

  • Assist with route planning and logistics scheduling.
  • Communicate with customers and clients to confirm delivery details or address queries.
  • Monitor vehicle maintenance schedules and coordinate servicing.
  • Update delivery and transport records in the company system.
  • Support the operations team with administrative tasks, including filing, data entry, and reporting.

As a Driver for ABN, you will be the face of our business, effectively and safely delivering animal feed to our customers. Our transport team consists of over 240 drivers on the road every day, delivering to farmers up and down the country. Using the latest driver technology and state of the art vehicles we deliver two million tonnes of animal feed every year.

Our drivers average a 48-hour week where days can vary typically routes are planned around a 12–13-hour day but these could be longer or shorter subject to road conditions or delivery schedule.

What we are looking for

  • Experienced Class 1 Driver CPC
  • Knowledge of EU Drivers hours and WTD regulation
  • Experience of blowing would be desirable but not essential.
  • Understanding that we are working in the agricultural environment which means on Farms in all seasons – you may be standing outside the cab for extended periods of time during loading and unloading rain or shine and will be delivering to working farms.
  • Self-motivated with great customer service skills – you will be interacting with our customers daily, so relationship building is key.
