The Role & Key Responsibilities

Job Title: AD Operator

Location: South Milford, North Yorkshire, UK

Contract and Shift Details: Permanent, 4 on 4 off 12-hour shifts (including on-call/monitoring requirements).

Are you experienced in production, anaerobic digestion (AD), or an agricultural/farming environment?

If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join a small, collaborative team within a well-established business.

As an AD Operator, you’ll be an important contributor to the safe and efficient operation of our anaerobic digestion plant, ensuring production targets are met and the plant runs smoothly.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate plant control systems for start-up, continuous operation, shutdown, and testing.
  • Conduct routine inspections, first-line fault-finding, and minor repairs.
  • Keep a close eye on plant performance, log defects, and proactively provide feedback to improve reliability and efficiency.
  • Accept feedstock deliveries in compliance with waste acceptance procedures and operate telehandler/forklift equipment.
  • Safely load digestate material for removal from the site.
  • Monitor the site out of hours via electronic systems on a rota basis and attend site for breakdowns when required (including weekends and bank holidays).
  • Maintain site cleanliness and comply with Health, Safety, Environmental Agency, and Animal Health regulations.
  • Stay up to date on the site's legislative requirements and always ensure full compliance.

About you:

  • Production environment experience, ideally within AD or agriculture.
  • Familiarity with automated AD plant machinery.
  • Multi-skilled with a clear, positive attitude to support plant operations.
  • Computer literate with proficiency in MS Office (e.g., Teams, Excel) and ability to learn new systems.
  • Good technical or operational background in an engineering discipline.
  • Comfortable working at height and in confined spaces, including use of raised walkways, steps, and ladders.
  • Experience with Lean manufacturing and Continuous Improvement practices is advantageous.
  • Willingness to contribute to a team environment and take on additional projects as needed.
