About the role
As an Indirect Buyer at AB Agri (Premier Nutrition), you will be central to managing our indirect spend and packaging portfolio to support our manufacturing operations from our Rugeley site.
You will be responsible for sourcing and managing suppliers across storage, haulage, services, MRO, and selected CAPEX projects, while overseeing contracts and ensuring project timelines and budgets are effectively managed.
What you'll be doing
- Manage and develop our indirect spend portfolio, with a particular focus on packaging, storage, haulage, services, and MRO, ensuring value for money and robust supply.
- Support cost-saving initiatives and sourcing projects, from scoping requirements through to supplier selection, contract negotiation, and implementation.
- Manage packaging procurement as an ongoing responsibility, maintaining supplier relationships, contracts and pricing, and ensuring continuity of supply.
- Use procurement and MRP/ERP systems (such as P2P and related tools) to run sourcing events, manage contracts and suppliers, and maintain accurate, auditable records.
- Tackle complex indirect procurement challenges, helping to prioritise projects, improve processes and deliver on bold savings and performance targets.
What we're looking for
- Ideally have spent 3 to 5 years working in indirect spend (e.g. services, storage, haulage, MRO, CAPEX, or other indirect categories) within manufacturing or a similar industrial environment.
- Skilled negotiation skills and a history of managing or supporting cost reduction initiatives, supplier contract management, and high‑value/strategic supplier relationships.
- Practical knowledge of managing and delivering procurement projects end‑to‑end, including sourcing, tendering, evaluating suppliers and implementing contracts to agreed timelines.
- Ability to coordinate effectively across multiple departments, demonstrating effective stakeholder management, relationship building and clear communication skills.
- Ready to engage in a new role with substantial savings and delivery expectations, making a constructive contribution to the overall procurement team and enhancing ongoing and future efforts.
