• The Role & Key Responsibilities

  • Job Title: Senior Key Account Manager - Horticulture

Location: The Netherlands, Arnhem and Utrecht region.

Contract: One-year contract with the possibility of becoming permanent based on performance.

Package includes: Salary starting from 81,000 EUR, plus a benefits package designed to support your wellbeing and reward your impact, including discretionary performance related bonus, mobility healthcare benefits and retirement savings.

We are seeking a Key Account Manager (Horticulture) to join Germains, where you will build long-term, strategic partnerships with leading European seed breeding customers through a value-based approach rather than transactional sales. As the main commercial contact for your key accounts, you will turn market and customer insights into new product and service opportunities, working closely with internal teams. You will be part of an international organisation with a collaborative, experienced team, gaining direct exposure to senior stakeholders and playing a visible role in strengthening Germains’ growth and reputation within the horticulture sector.

    What you'll be doing:

    • Manage and grow relationships with  European key accounts, acting as the link between customers and internal teams, with a focus on long-term partnerships rather than day-to-day operations.
    • Identify mid- to long-term growth opportunities by understanding customer needs, market trends, and competitive dynamics, and turning these into clear business cases.
    • Own the commercial side of your accounts, including account plans, opportunity pipeline, pricing, margins, contracts, and quarterly sales forecasts.
    • Bring structured market insights into internal discussions, supporting product portfolio development, new solutions, and strategic decisions together with product, technical, and commercial teams.
    • Work closely with key stakeholders such as customer service, quality, finance, and commercial colleagues, while supporting demand creation through visits, trials, and joint customer activities, always promoting close collaboration and safe ways of working.

    What you'll bring:

    • At least 5 years of experience in key account management within horticulture, agronomy, agtech, or the wider agriculture sector, with extensive experience in commercial agriculture.
    • Solid knowledge of the European horticulture ecosystem, including breeders, distributors, plant raisers, growers, and market dynamics.
    • Demonstrated ability to consistently meet commercial targets, build long-term partnerships, and sell on value while negotiating with senior stakeholders.
    • Solid commercial discipline, including accurate forecasting, CRM usage, structured reporting, and understanding of supply chain processes to support S&OP and decision-making.
    • Bachelor’s or HBO-level qualification in horticulture, agronomy, business, or a related field, combined with professional English and fluent Dutch language skills.
