Job Title: Laboratory Assistant

Location: Hengoed, Wales, United Kingdom

Contract: Fixed Term

AB Vista Laboratory Services, operating from laboratories in Hengoed, Wales, United Kingdom, is looking for a dedicated laboratory assistant to join our team. This is an entry level role in which we hope to find a positive, multi-tasker with an interest in science!

An AB Vista Laboratory Assistant supports the overall running of the laboratory by performing tasks such as:
- Receive, log, process samples for both NIR and lab analysis
- log samples within our LIMS
- prepare by, labelling, milling, and interim storage
- process samples by scanning on different NIR devices
- post processing storage of samples
- Assist with the production, packaging, and organisation of sample for our validation service (Ingot Check)
- Support the NIR Laboratory Coordinator with their daily activities
- Document creation for shipping purposes
- Liaise with customs/courier bodies for paperwork compliance
- Record keeping and filing of reports
- Assist laboratory management team as necessary
To be successful in this role, we are looking for someone with:
-Interest in biology, chemistry, or agricultural sciences
-Strong ability to communicate and work well with a team
-High attention to detail with the ability to follow both written and verbal technical instructions
-Ability to multi-task and manage time and priorities wisely
-Previous experience with Microsoft Suite and SharePoint preferred, strong computer skills required

Physical Requirements
-No allergies to animal feedstuff ingredients (eg. wheat)
-Ability to work on your feet
-Ability to handle at least 5L of liquid (approx. 5kg)

Our lab is conveniently located, approximately 10 minutes’ walk from Ystrad Mynach rail station and in reasonable driving distance of Caerphilly and Cardiff.
